At SALIDO, we’re fortunate every day to work with some of the best minds in the hospitality and tech industries. While we’re busy changing up how the restaurant world operates, it’s important to use some of that time to do some good. We were able to do that recently when we supported the Chef's Care Barbecue to benefit Pop.Earth, a nonprofit offering complementary and low-cost holistic health and wellness programs for those with autism and developmental disorders. The event was held on Saturday, July 15, at Michael Loeb’s breathtaking beachside Southampton home (you may know it from the Showtime show “Billions”).
During the four-hour event, over 550 guests enjoyed tastes of BBQ from 20 of NYC’s most celebrated chefs including: Franklin Becker, Floyd Cardoz, Marco Canora, Maria Loi, Alex Guarnaschelli, Jean Paul Bourgeois, and more. Even our host Michael Loeb, an amazing home cook, participated with a helping hand from his sons, offering skirt steak, ribs, beans and corn hush puppies. James Beard Award Winning chef Jonathan Waxman of Barbuto emceed the evening while DJ Politik kept the crowd dancing all night.
The big highlight of the evening was the live auction, which was curated and led by our leader, CEO Shu Chowdhury. From exclusives restaurant reservations to backyard BBQ and pizza parties for 100, the silent and live auctions raised over $250,000 for Pop.Earth and its initiatives.
While a few of our SALIDO team members had their hands into planning this event, the whole company was able to attend as a work perk and celebrate in style while raising awareness and funds. We look forward to next summer when SALIDO and Michael Loeb come together for another epic charity evening.
